British pop singer Ed Sheeran to hold a concert in Qatar

-

Ed Sheeran

Grammy nominated English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will perform at the Qatar National Convention Center on March 3, a local events company has said.

Sheeran, known for his debut single The A Team as well as 2014’s Sing, is touring in support of his latest album, x – pronounced, “multiply.” It is a followup to his first album, +.

While the Qatar stop doesn’t yet appear on Sheeran’s official website, locally based Iconic Advertising & Events announced the concert date and venue on social media this afternoon.

Ticket information would be coming soon, the company stated. The March concert is believed to be Sheeran’s first show in Qatar.

Sheeran is one of the larger musical acts in recent years to plan a show in Qatar, which artists travelling through the region often bypass in favor of Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

The announcement appeared to strike a chord with some local fans:

Here’s a video of Sheeran playing live in Dublin earlier this year:

Do you plan to go to the show? Thoughts?

That’s exciting, I hope it’s true! He’s a very talented artist and I loved every single track on his last album.

Coming straight from the underground, I’m pretty sure the police would object to NWA coming to town.

Even though I won’t attend, it’s positive that a popular act is coming to Doha. If it attracts other groups and artists, this is great. On the long list of things that aren’t so great about Qatar is that there is a severe lack of live music.

this is due to the lack of proper agents in Doha…. I see AD always advertising on TV great artist.. that’s becuase they have one or two really strong agents who book artist doing global tours.. a great venue in yas island with four or five 4 star hotels…
In doha its mostly hotels and very poorly run agencies… maybe its something for Q-Media to consider… not that Q-Media is any good but at least they have the power to mak things happen

Well there is live music at the Admirals Club. Local acts are doing a very good job at towing the line here.

Wow, I never thought I would see such a big name play here! By far the biggest artist to ever play here!
Whilst I am not a massive fan I will still go for the experience, the guy is very talented.
I just hope they advertise the ticket sales properly. Normally when something big is on the advertising is non existant then when you find out where to get tickets you then find its sold out!

What kind of dumb comment is that? What point are you trying to make. The only thing you accomplished here is to look silly in front of a wide audience.

I never paid much attention to his music before but one of his songs came on the radio today and one line struck me as odd.
“Can you still taste my love in your mouth”
Kinda shocking…..
