Extra security at the Sheraton as oil meet kicks off in Doha

Officials from more than a dozen oil-producing countries are in Qatar today to discuss instituting a freeze on current oil production levels, though hopes are not too high after Iran pulled out at the last minute.

The possibility of steadying output has caused the price of oil to rise to nearly $45 a barrel this week, after hitting a low of $27 earlier this year. According to CNBC, security is very tight at the Sheraton Doha hotel, where the meet will take place.
