PHOTOS: India, Pakistan embassies celebrate Independence Day

Yesterday, Pakistani expats in Qatar gathered at their embassy in Doha to commemorate the 67th anniversary of their independence from Britain.

Indians in Qatar celebrated their Independence Day today. Though both countries gained their sovereignty from Britain on the same day in 1947 (Aug. 15), is was thought that Pakistan moved its celebrations to Aug. 14 in 1948 to coincide with an auspicious night in Ramadan, and has celebrated it then ever since.

Happy Birthday to both countries! Did you partake in any events?
