What to do this weekend: Laugh, watch and get inspired

There’s still another day left of the work week, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start planning out your weekend.

Here are a few things we know are going on:

  • Stand Up Comedy Qatar (SUCQ) is back with a new comedy show at Bistro 61 in the Al Fardan Towers, West Bay. The show on Friday night starts at 8:30pm, with tickets available for 35 QR.
  • Doha Film Institute is screening the next film in its Japanese Cinema Showcase, Always – Sunset on Third Street .

Synopsis: Set in 1958 as Japan emerges from the shadow of war, ‘Always – Sunset on Third Street’ follows the lives of a group of people in a small Tokyo neighbourhood on the cusp of major change.

Showings are at 7pm on Thursday night and 4pm + 7pm on Friday, all at the Museum of Islamic Art auditorium.

  • Katara Culture Village will be hosting a motivational lecture by Farouk Al-Zoman, the first Saudi man to have climbed Mount Everest. The talk will be in Arabic on Saturday, 6:30pm at Katara Drama Theatre – Bldg 16.

What else is going on – what are your plans for the weekend?
