Women’s-only cinema to open on Thursday

Qatar will open possibly the first ladies-only cinema in the Middle East on June 30, showing the latest releases currently screened by other movie theaters around town.

The 154-seat single-screen Aspire Ladies Cinema will be housed in the AZF’s Ladies Club and will show three movies a day from Thursday to Saturday.

A special screening for children (accompanied by a female relative) will take place on Saturday mornings.

Information on screenings can be found here.

This sounds like a great idea, albeit with only one screen and a handful of showings a week, quite a tentative foray into the world of ladies’ cinema.

Additionally, ticket prices are not specified, with the release only vaguely stating that they will be close to the price of VIP seats in Doha’s main cinemas – which usually cost about QR100 each!

What do you guys (and gals) think? Would you check this theater out?
